Ierland speelde een fantastische wedstrijd. Zowel Micheal Sweeny als Martin McGuire scoorden hoge punten. Allebei wierpen ze meerdere keren alle kegels om. Uiteindelijk gooiden ze samen 499 punten, wat goed is voor de zesde plaats. Drie banen verder gooide het Nederlandse mannenteam ook hoge punten. Zij wonnen uiteindelijk zelfs de gouden medaille. De Nederlandse dames behaalden tevens successen. Lisette van Kloppen en Denise Kockx namen samen de zilveren medaille in ontvangst. Op de vraag hoe ze de kansen van de Nederlandse heren inschat antwoordde Lisette: “Alle medailles zijn goed, maar ik hoop dat de heren ook zilver winnen, want dan zijn we allebei even goed”.Na de prijsuitreiking waar Michael Belga en Bert Beverdam de lintjes uitdeelden, begonnen Bert Beverdam en de Finse Asa Bjork Gisladottir aan hun demonstratie. Het publiek genoot optimaal van hun idolen.Wednesday was a busy day at the bowling alley in the Kattediep, it was the first day of the finals. Plus there was a demonstration of the Dutch bowling champion Bert Beverdam, and the Fin Asa Bjork Giskladottir. Everyone played a great game. Micheal Sweeny and Martin McGuire both scored high points. They both threw several strikes. They bowled a total of 499 points, which landed the sixth place. Three lanes to the right, the Dutch men’s team was also scoring pretty high, enough to win them gold. The Dutch women’s team was sharing their luck. Lisette van Kloppen and Denise Kockx, won silver. When Lissete was asked what the chances of the men were she answered “All the medals are good but I hope they also win silver, then we are just as good”.Micheal Belga and Bert Beverdam gave out the ribbons at the award ceremony, after which Asa Bjork Gisaladottir and Bert Beverdam began their demonstration.
